Data Submission
This is a general submission protocol for the Admin Center and PRCs. It is expected that this protocol will eventually be streamlined and automated.
Regular Submission
Includes all types of data including primary and intermediate forms all the way to published results. Data may still be kept private and not ready for release to the public. (See Proteomics Data Type document for details)
- PRC will notify the Admin Center by email to ProteomicsDataSubmission@list.s-3.com with the Subject line "New Data Submission" and briefly summarize the data types to be submitted and specify a PRC contact person.
- A liaison from the Admin Center will contact the PRC within 48 business hours to discuss details of the submission with the PRC contact provided, including:
- Additional details about the data to be submitted, data type, its relationship to the project and previously submitted data
- What, if any, additional information may be required
- Means of transfer, email attachment, download, etc.
- Data release date (when can data be made public)
- What is the completion status of the data (incomplete data set, complete but without final results, final analyzed results, manuscript published)
- Ideas the PRCs may have on how to display the data
In cases where a related publication already exists and no primary results were submitted to the Admin Center, go to Publication Submission, otherwise proceed with the next step below.
- The data will be transferred to the Admin Center, who will in turn
- Inform NIAID
- Inspect it for completeness
- The Admin Center will process and load the data into its databases and store as appropriate
- The Admin Center will:
- Arrange to display the information as appropriate on this Website
- Arrange for members of the Admin Center and the PRCs to review the display
- PRCs will notify the Admin Center and NIAID immediately when data may be released to the public if prior to the submitted release date
Required Information (see Proteomics Data Type document)
Final details of required information are being worked out with individual PRCs and harmonized withih the IWG as agreed to earlier with the goal of being MIAPE and MIAME compliant. It will include both primary data through analyzed results and identified targets. It will also include protocols on sample prep, analytical technique, and data analysis as appropriate.

Publication Submission
This process is only for analyzed final results ready for immediate public release when results are already in the public domain and primary data and other information was not previously submitted to the Admin Center. It should not be used to bypass regular submission process.
- The data will be transferred to the Admin Center, who will in turn
- Inform NIAID
- Inspect it for completeness
- The Admin Center will:
- Arrange to display the information as appropriate on this Website
- Arrange for members of the Admin Center and the PRCs to review the display
- The Admin Center will then discuss with the PRC what additional supporting information including primary and intermediate forms of the data should also be provided via the normal submission process
Required Information for Manuscript Submission
- A copy of the manuscript
- A description of the methods used, including
- Sample preparation
- Analytical technique
- Data analysis
- A description of the results
- Supplementary data or figures mentioned in the manuscript. For example, complete lists of individual proteins/peptides, genes, etc., identified in the results as significant
- Other appropriate information, i.e., links to other public data resources that contain some of the data
Note: Most of this information, except supplementary data, should be in any manuscript. However, to help avoid errors, we ask the PRC to extract (copy/paste is fine) and separate the various parts outlined above for the submission.
