Biodefense Proteomics Research Centers
Fourth Programmatic Meeting - May 30-31, 2007
Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown, Salt Lake City, UT

Meeting Objectives

  • Provide the Proteomics Research Centers (PRCs) with the opportunity to share their latest research in interactive forums
  • Broaden the outreach of this project by inviting participation from additional researchers from other National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) projects and groups
  • Address administrative issues that benefit from face-to-face interactions between the Administrative Resource Center (RC) and the PRCs

This fourth year, the Proteomics Programmatic Meeting (PPM4) is going to be different than in years past. Below are more details about these changes and associated action items.

Changes in Brief

The meeting will no longer have 45-60 minute project update presentations from each PRC. That information will be presented in poster format with dedicated time in the agenda for poster presentation as well as for informal viewing throughout the meeting. In place of PRC presentations there are three thematic sessions where the investigators will have the opportunity to share their research as it applies to the theme of the particular session. The outreach and integration of NIAID-funded programs will be evident as we host three additional RCE investigators as our guests.

Details

Posters — Each PRC will present the details of the past year's research in one or more posters. The posters will be hung in the designated area before the meeting begins and will remain up until after the last session concludes (excluding the SWG session). The agenda includes a dedicated poster presentation session on both days. During these sessions a PRC representative should be available to discuss the work presented on the poster and answer questions. Informal viewing times are also available outside of the scheduled sessions during the meeting.

Thematic Sessions — There will be three thematic sessions during PPM4: technological developments, intracellular pathogens (bacteria and protozoa), and viral pathogens — in use or under study in the program. These sessions are for scientific exchange and dialogue where participation is expected to include questions and comments from the audience. Although a session may have a particular PRC do a short presentation as a representative example, this does not preclude participation by other PRCs.
