Wine is one of the most commun alcoholic drink and one of the most widely appreciated around the world. It is made in many countrys and there are many different tastes and sorts. Despite it being so known, not many people actually know how wine is done. They might have a wague idea of the process but do not know or fully understand the principal. It is actually a quite simple method which involves natural biological and chemical processes.
First of all the grapes need to be picked at the right time of the year, because the amout of sun alters the amount of sugar contained in the fruit therefore the taste. Once collected the stems and leaves will be seperated from the grapes. Then they will be pressed into a giant container. Some yeast will be added and the fermentation process will start. The suger contained in the grapes will be transformed into alcohol. The reaction is then stopped when the wanted amount of alcohol is achieved. The taste will change depending on the length of the fermentation process. The shorter it is the more the wine will have a sweet taste, because their is still a lot of sugar. On the other hand if you let the jus ferment longer the wine will have a higher alcohol percentage.
To obtain rose the skin of the grapes are removed immediately when pressed. With the red wine once pressed the grapes are left with the skin and the color then comes from the skin. Rose is often a sweet win, therefore it is fermented for a shorter periode as red wine. Dark red grapes are used to produce red and rose wine. The white grapes are used for white wine, but other than that the process is identical. Wine is an excellent beverrage to have with most cooked meals.
